At the beginning of the year, only those whose vehicle (including trailers) is in circulation on 1 January of the year concerned will receive a decision on the motor vehicle tax.
From 2025, everyone will receive an official decision, no notification letter will be sent due to changes in the rate of vehicle tax. If your vehicle is exempt for the whole year, you will not receive a decision.
If you have a permanent representative registered with the NTCA, the official decision will be sent to your authorised representative.
If you are not obliged to communicate electronically, but you can be reached electronically, NTCA has placed the decision or notification letter in your KÜNY electronic memory space. KÜNY is the Hungarian abbreviation for the Central Client Registration System, commonly referred to as the Client Gate. From 16 January 2025, the single-factor Client Gate login method will be discontinued. After that date, the decision will be available electronically using the two-factor Client Gate+ login or DÁP (Digitális Állampolgár – Digital Citizen) identification.
If you use the Digitális Állampolgár mobile app, you will be obliged to use electronic communication and will access the decision electronically on the DÁP's memory space.
You should store your documents in the long-term memory space; otherwise, they will no longer be available 30 days after they are sent. You can also view your documents received from NTCA on the NTCA Taxpayer Portal. English language is available.
If you do not have a DÁP memory space, you will receive your document on paper.
If you are unable to log in to your KÜNY electronic memory space because you do not remember your password, you must fill in the "Forgotten password" form on the Client Gate website. Should you still not be able to log in, you can renew your password in person at any NTCA central customer service or government office.
- Fast: no need to wait for the post office to deliver your documents.
- Retrievable: all your documents are stored in one place in the memory space, and you can view them at any time if you put them in the long-term memory space.
- Convenient: for some types of case, such as motor vehicle tax, you can pay your tax directly online by clicking on the link in the letter.
- Immediate: if a document arrives in your electronic memory space, you will be notified by e-mail.
- Environmentally friendly: by choosing to host your document in the memory space, you are also protecting the environment, as it is delivered electronically without using paper.
To be able to send and receive documents electronically, you must have a secure electronic memory space. Only the memory space provided by NISZ Zrt. may be used for this purpose.
